I have yet to see the very President of the United States in person but I have managed to see the Prime Minister of Australia in person. Just FYI - the Prime Minister is equivalent to the President here. Ms. Julia Gillard has been all over Australia lately because of the recent floodings in Queensland and she was in Adelaide today. So, I was walking down one of the busiest streets of the CBD and was stopped by a traffic light. I noticed that about 200 feet on the other side of the crossing that there were tons of cameras and I was thinking, "Like, why are there so many cameras pointing in my direction? Did I walk onto a movie set?" Then I noticed a group of men in suits all talking to one red-headed lady directly in front of me. The red-headed lady was Julia Gillard! There may have been a few body guards around but I think the Pope is much better protected. I noticed all the Aussies around me pointing and staring at her and I was like, but I'm standing 5 feet behind her and y'all aren't. Of course, the light changed and my moment of being star struck was gone. The cameras took lots of pictures of her and I kept walking by thinking I wished I could have talked to her but it took me too long to realize who she was. Sorry, couldn't take pics of her but I do have a link to an article to prove that she was in town today. Oh, and Shawn's jealous :)
